Help Shape the Future of Music Education in Dorset & Somerset
Octagon Music Hub has launched a set of stakeholder surveys to help inform the future direction of music education and creative opportunities for children and young people.
These surveys are a vital part of the ongoing work to ensure that decisions are needs-led, evidence-based and shaped by the voices of those who learn, teach, support and deliver music across our communities.
Why is the Hub running these surveys?
The Hub wants to better understand:
- what is working the well in music education locally
- where there are gaps, barriers or unmet needs
- how support, partnership working and investment can be improved
The feedback the Hub receives will directly inform:
- future priorities for the Music Hub
- commissioning and partnership decisions
- workforce development and training
- how the Hub support access, inclusion and progression
Who are the surveys for?
There are five short surveys, each designed for a specific group (survey links included)
- Children & young people Children & Young People Survey
- Parents & carers Parents & Carers Survey
- Schools and education settings Schools & Settings Survey
- Individuals working in the music education and creative workforce Music Education Workforce Survey
- Music education organisations, groups and partners Organisations & Groups Survey
Each survey is tailored to the experiences and perspectives of that group, and most take around 5–10 minutes to complete.
The Hub encourages anyone who is part of the music education ecosystem in Dorset to take part and to share the surveys with others who may wish to contribute.
How will responses be used?
All responses will be handled in line with data protection requirements. Findings will be used in aggregate to support planning and decision-making and to ensure the Hub’s work reflects the realities and aspirations of those it serves.
Thank you for helping us shape the future of music education across the region.
