Music Mentoring

Music Mentoring sessions are 1:1, 45-minute, weekly sessions which are tailored to young people with social, emotional and/or mental health barriers, and with personal outcomes such developing resilience, agency and a sense of belonging through music. These outcomes are just as important as musical ones in this 1:1 programme.

The success of these sessions is driven by a trusting relationship where the pupil feels safe and free to explore his/her/their own creativity through music.

The session is child/young person led and might include singing, song writing, acoustic/electric/digital instruments, creating/exploring through an online digital audio workstation or a combination.

At the end of each term the music leader will write a report focussing in the music, personal and social outcomes of this delivery

It is possible to arrange sessions at home, in a school, or at other alternative settings such as youth centres.
