Artsreach is delighted to welcome Klezmer Foygl, an exciting new London‑based ensemble, to Dorset this March for a three‑night tour celebrating the rich traditions and contemporary vibrancy of Klezmer music.

Meaning ‘Klezmer Songbird’ in Yiddish, Klezmer Foygl is led by clarinettist John Macnaughton and features some of the UK’s leading Klezmer musicians: Josh Middleton (Don Kipper, Raka Balkan Band) on accordion, Theo Malka‑Wishart (Oysland) on double bass, and Christina Borgenstierna (She’Koyokh) on percussion. Together, the quartet brings both authenticity and fresh creativity to a centuries‑old musical tradition.

Collectively, the musicians of Klezmer Foygl have toured internationally, performed for television and theatre, and appeared at many of the UK’s foremost cultural venues, including BBC Maida Vale Studios, The Southbank Centre, Wigmore Hall, and The Barbican.

Grounded deeply in traditional Yiddish music while bringing an inventive London edge, the ensemble weaves stories, dance tunes, ritual melodies and virtuosic improvisations into a vibrant live experience. Their performances combine the soulful expressiveness of Klezmer with a contemporary flair that keeps the music fresh, exciting, and full of heart. Audiences can expect everything from foot‑stomping dance tunes to haunting melodies and original arrangements infused with playful energy.
