Special Schools – Delivery & Music Support Offer Level Two – 26-27

Dorset Music Service is here to help you deliver high quality music education through upskilling staff, relieving teachers’ capacity and providing resources to enable music to thrive in your school.

NEW Bespoke delivery by visiting specialist: During 1 term, access to 10 h of bespoke delivery by a visiting musician to be arranged by the school and DMS as appropriate. Our visiting musician will work closely with class teachers/Music subject lead providing mentoring support and guidance to build their confidence and capacity to deliver high-quality musical learning for their pupils.   

Accessible instruments and technology are included in this delivery at no extra cost. There is a wide range to choose from. You can have up to 15 items per term, and can change your items each term if required. Subject to availability. 

Charanga – Access to the Charanga platform which includes schemes of work, creative apps and many resources to support progression activity. Yu Studio to develop your music technology provision, and YuMu enables pupils to explore and continue independent learning  at home. The ideal solution for teachers looking for support in delivering high-quality curriculum music. 

School Music Development Plan – support with development and review of school objectives and links to locality plans.  

Access to locality and school phase peer network meetings – facilitated networks across locality, county and the wider Octagon Music Hub network. 

NEW: Participation in collaborative singing event and opportunities to progress and celebrate young people’s music-making.

Access to Music & Wellbeing Resources and CPD offers to support positive wellbeing and holistic support for pupils through music.

Access to CPD training, webinars and recordings – from DMS, Hub partners, Lead School Network and national partner organisations.

Support with co-curricular music offer development – music-making groups, school singing and connection with the workforce and agreement around data return.

What do I need to do next?
Review your School Music Development Plan (SMDP) and update it for 26/27. Add this package to your Nexus basket and check it out. Please note, you must check your purchase out on Nexus for us to deliver the support to you. We will not begin your support if the package is just in your basket and cannot guarantee that late bookings will receive their full package.

Your school support package will run in line with the academic year 2026/27.
