Our Next Steps Tuition Centres are the perfect place for children in Key Stage 2 to discover what it is like to be a musician.
Over the course of two terms, learners will receive 20 small-group music lessons, helping them begin their musical journey in a fun and supportive environment. Lessons will last 20 to 30 minutes each week and will take place from 3.45pm onwards. Children will be grouped according to their chosen instrument and will be taught to play the instrument from beginner level, so no experience is necessary.
Dorset Music Service will provide an instrument, free of charge, for your child to use throughout the programme, and they will be able to take it home to practise between lessons.
Our first Next Steps programme for 2026/27 will take place in Weymouth and delivered by Music Area Lead Pili Lopez, after the October half-term break and will be available to children wishing to learn the ukulele or keyboard. Lessons will cost £60 per term (including the instrument), with financial support available for those in receipt of Pupil Premium or targeted Free School Meals.
